GEOtube Tower #3dthursday

GEOtube01

From EmergingObjects.com.

The GEOtube Tower Proposal is a scale model for a Vertical Salt Deposit Growth System for Dubai designed by Faulders Studio. The model's modular components were fabricated by Emerging Objects for Faulders Studio using our unique Salt material, which is extremely translucent and conceptually consistent with the designer's proposal.

The architect's conceptual proposal is born from unique environmental conditions. The GEOtube is a new kind of urban sculptural tower. Gravity-sprayed with adjacent Persion Gulf waters, its building skin is entirely grown rather than constructed; is in continual formation rather than fully completed; and is created locally rather than imported. The world's highest salinity for oceanic water is found in the Persian Gulf (and the Red Sea) – local salt water is supplied to GEOtube via a new 4.62 km buried pipeline and misted onto the tower's exposed mesh. As the water evaporates and salt deposits aggregate over time, the tower's appearance transforms from a transparent skin to a highly visible white solid plane. The result is a specialized habitat for wildlife that thrives is this environment, and an accessible surface for the harvesting of crystal salt….

Re: byte[4] -> long - funktioniert nur bedingt.

Alternativ zu pointern ist auch
union { unsigned long l; byte b[4];}
eine elegante Möglichkeit, auf einzelne Bytes eines long zuzugreifen und den gleichen Speicher auf zwei unterschiedliche Arten zu sehen.

Byte 2-3: ASCII Arduino's address.
Byte 4: Byte ENQ, ACK or NAK (0x05h, 0x06h y 0x15h) .
Byte 5: ASCII Requested command.

Re: Set the speed of 2 DC motors with H-Bridge

What H bridge are you using ?   Can you provide a link to what you are using ?
If it has ENA and ENB inputs then it is almost certainly 2 H bridges, even if they are in 1 chip, possibly an L293 or similar.

or low power,  you can use devices designed for electric model planes.

That depends how you define low power:

Brainwave

Check out the first product manufactured entirely in-house at the Metrix Open Hardware Lab at Metrix Create:space — the Brainwave 1.0, a complete electronics package for driving 3D printers!

Check out the announcement here as well as Thingiverse Thing 25054:

Brainwave is a low cost controller for Reprap 3D printers derived from the well known Sanguinololu. The primary design goal was lower cost, achieved by providing only the minimum required components for a single extruder printer. It can be used to drive a cartesian or delta style printer.

Features
- Small footprint: only 60mm x 79mm!
- 12V power input
- Micro USB connector
- All connectors at edge of board, vertical or right-angle connectors will fit.
- Atmel AT90USB646 microcontroller w/ USB bootloader
- 1, 2, 16 or 32x microstepping @ up to 800mA
- Dual Z-axis connectors
- Optional per channel current attenuation
- Heated bed support with separate power input (up to 24V @ 15A)
- Integrated heater/thermistor/stepper connector for E channel
- Fan control

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don't forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

The Adafruit Learning System has dozens of great tools to get you well on your way to creating incredible works of engineering, interactive art, and design with your 3D printer! If you've made a cool project that combines 3D printing and electronics, be sure to let us know, and we'll feature it here!

Once again excuse the n00bie-ness but what do you mean by RD is pulled High?

Obviously I know what you mean by RD as you are referring to the Pin that is going to the 3.3v point on the Arduino.

Re: Induction Motor Control!

Trying to use an induction motor as a generator can be rather complicated and tricky.

To work,  it needs to be connected to a proper three phase supply.  If you connect a three phase
motor to the regular utility 3 phase supply  and then try to drive th...
