This is the first time we've seen a Perma Proto Pi board in the wild. Looks great! From @hydrogadget:

PiPermaProto

Adafruit Perma-Proto Raspberry Pi Breadboard PCB Kit: This proto-board is the PCB you always wish you had, but never realized it! We took the basic layout of a full-sized breadboard (the PCB has 60 rows instead of 63 rows) and turned that into a beautiful PCB. The top side has a white silkscreen, and the same markings you're familiar with, to make transferring components easy. The bottom has the 5-hole pad design that matches a classic breadboard, with 4 power bus lines on the sides, and no mask so you can easily cut traces when necessary. We used 1.2mm diameter drill holes so even parts with big leads will fit. All holes are thru-plated for strength – these wont peel off with rework. The finish is a gold plate – you won't get oxidation like with bare copper perf! There are also tons of mounting holes so you can attach the PCB to your project box. (read me)

last input delay ( what I call it ) "
Call it a timeout, because that's what it is.

I'm struggling to see what the problem is.

Keep in mind that Arduino is using something similar to stk500 but it's not identical. If you implement it yourself take a look at the C implementation in avrdude.
Also keep in mind that not all Arduinos are using that protocol. For example the Leonard...

Re: Arduino Micro COM jumping?

Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:50 AM PST

It is normal for the Micro and Leonardo to re-enumerate on the USB port during a reset.  It is because the USB function is being performed by the main processor.  When you reset the processor stops the USB function and runs the bootloader USB function ...

Re: Two Byte (Serial)

Try this code.
It's a start. The code could be a lot easier by calculating the led number instead of a switch statement for every value. Write A...H and a...h to the serial port to switch leds on and off.

[code]
// Example code, not tested.

int LED1 = ...

Turn the Raspberry Pi Into a Shaping WiFi Router #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

Posted: 01 Feb 2013 01:00 AM PST

More great wifi access point ideas! From http://sirlagz.net/:

I recently got my Raspberry Pi to act as a WiFi Router with shaping by using hostapd, tc, and iptables together to broadcast as an Access Point, apply shaping rules, and apply packet marking respectively.

This can be done on any device with 2 NICs but this may come in useful for anyone using the Pi as a router but doesn't want people using all the bandwidth.

I will be going through the iptables and tc configuration in this post, but I won't go through the hostapd setup as that was the same as part 3 of my Raspi WiFi Access point guide.

I started off with a blank slate of Raspbian Server Edition again, and I didn't need to install any utilities as iptables and tc are installed by default.
