Robot mannequin adjusts shape and size… in the "Robots at Work and Play" feature in The Atlantic: Lauri Mihkels from the technical support team of the Estonian company Fits.me adjusts a shape-shifting robotic mannequin on March 27, 2012 at offices in Tallinn. Fashion fans have one more reason to swap brick-and-mortar shops for online retailers after an Estonian company has come up with a technology allowing them to virtually try their clothes on. Using shape-shifting robotic mannequins, who can grow from slim to muscular in moments, and a technology invented by Estonian universities, the Fits.me company also spares online shops from heaps of returned goods. The robots can take on about 100,000 different body shapes, but only about 2,000 are being used for commercial purposes. This is a good example of hacking devices with Arduino. [sspence65] has put on oa good tutorial to start from something easy and simple: IR hack. Capturing codes from any tv remote, and using them to control devices attached to Arduino Outputs. Press a button on a TV Remote, and the code appears in the serial monitor, Add that code to the case/switch statements in the sketch to control an output pin.On the [website] there is the full explanation and code to build the same experience, but nothing prevent you to implement a custom way for your IR devices. |

Community member FoxFireX is in the process of creating a custom "Monopoly in Lights" game board and has been getting some help from the forums to set up our 16-channel PWM/Servo drivers (he's up to 9 channels — thinking of going for 143!) to control the lighting he has in mind: After a couple of false starts with transparencies and water slide decals, I finally found a printable medium that I liked for the board graphics. Following some creative image acquisition, I had appropriate Photoshop files ready to go, and printed out the spaces. Over the last several days, I've been applying the decals and dropping things into place, and suddenly, it looks like I've got a real board here! Had a couple of setbacks on the electronics front, which I'll probably detail later (when I get past them), but for now, enjoy some of the first pictures where it becomes very obvious that yes, this really is intended to be a Monopoly board.Read more. |
